Home care update

The Home Care Team at Karuna has been busy this year caring for 86 families. To help with the coordination of this work two of our nurses, Renee Wilson and Camille Doyle have taken on the shared role of Client Care Coordinator. They take all enquiries and referrals, triage admissions and coordinate the day-to-day activities of the service.

Sadly Carmel Williams our Family Support Volunteer Program Team Leader will be leaving at the end of April, after 3.5 years. She will be moving overseas and commencing an exciting new role! Everyone at Karuna will miss her dearly as she has done a wonderful job caring for clients and volunteers. The position will be advertised next week on our website. Carmel we wish you well and thank you for all your hard work

Deaf Services Queensland visit Karuna

Last month deaf awareness training was presented to staff at Karuna to deepen their understanding of key issues relating to deafness. One of the presenters spoke about what it is like to be deaf and in hospital, which had great relevance to the Karuna team who have looked after a number of people who were hearing impaired. Some sign language was taught and some staff will go on to enrol in AUSLAN classes to learn more.

From little things, big things grow

We know that Karuna is important to you and becoming a regular donor can really make a difference to the lives of many in need.

“Back in 2003 I couldn’t believe how Karuna really went the extra mile for a friend of mine. Day or night –nothing was too much trouble. I’ve been a regular donor ever since. I want Karuna to be there when my time comes. ” Robert W.

If you would like to know more about our Regular Donor Program please call Evelyn on 3632 8321 or 3632 8300.

Have you ever thought of becoming a regular Karuna donor?
